E-40 is giving credit to the woman who stood beside him long before the fame, money, and music career.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Bay Area rapper opened up about maintaining his marriage to his high school sweetheart while navigating the temptations that can come with being in the entertainment industry.

According to E-40, his wife, Tracy Stevens, was there before the world knew his name—and she continues to be one of his biggest supporters.

“You ain’t never heard of no smut out there on me, because I don’t do it,” E-40 said while discussing how he has handled himself throughout his career.

For E-40, staying committed wasn’t simply about avoiding temptation. It was about having boundaries and knowing what mattered most to him.

Too $hort, who has known E-40 for decades, previously spoke about his longtime friend’s approach to marriage during his own appearance on The Breakfast Club.
He explained that E-40 made it clear that his marriage came first and that he wasn’t interested in blurring the lines with women he worked around.

E-40 also credits his grandparents for helping shape his views on love, marriage, and commitment.

Growing up, he watched their marriage and learned the importance of having morals, showing respect, and recognizing the value of a good woman. Those lessons stayed with him as he built his own family.

The rapper also reflected on seeing friends have loyal women in their lives but still walk away from relationships for someone they didn’t necessarily believe was a better partner.

His message is essentially simple: when you find someone good, value them.

E-40, whose real name is Earl Stevens, has been married to Tracy Stevens since 1991. The couple has been together for more than four decades and married for 35 years.

In an industry where long-term relationships can be difficult to maintain, E-40’s story is a reminder that fame doesn’t have to change your standards—or your appreciation for the person who was there before the spotlight.
