50 Cent has been pretty clear about where he stands on marriage — he’s not exactly rushing to the altar.
The rapper and businessman, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has talked openly during a recent appearance on Apple Music’s Rap Life Review about watching successful men build serious wealth, only to lose a big chunk of it after a divorce.
According to Jackson, some of these men made smart moves throughout their careers, but choosing the wrong partner became one of their biggest financial mistakes.
He pointed out that when a marriage inevitably goes wrong, the financial fallout, especially child support, can be absolutely devastating.
And that’s a big reason he’s been hesitant about marriage and avoids complicated romantic entanglements. 50 Cent has even gone so far as to practice celibacy to maintain a clear head, claiming that avoiding romantic distractions is the ultimate key to success.
This isn’t the first time 50 has shared his thoughts on marriage. The rapper brought the topic up during a 2024 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
While talking about mistakes he’s made in life, he joked that getting married wasn’t one of them.
The entrepreneur has never been married, but he stated that if he ever does, he’d want a prenup.
And considering the massive fortunes that have been involved in some high-profile billionaire divorces, it’s easy to understand why financial protection is something he takes seriously.
The rapper’s mindset seems pretty simple: build your money, protect your money, and don’t make a relationship decision that could put everything you’ve built at risk.
His comments have sparked debate, with some understanding his financial logic, while others believe his view on love is lonely and depressing.
