Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about her relationship with NBA star Klay Thompson and admitting that she felt like she was losing herself while they were together.
In a new interview with InStyle, Megan reflected on the breakup and described the relationship as “very rough.”
She said there were times when she constantly felt uncomfortable and on edge, which eventually made her question whether she was where she was supposed to be.
Megan explained that she spent too much time trying to make the relationship work, even when things weren’t necessarily fitting.
“I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life,” Megan said. “I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”
The rapper also reflected on what she learned from the experience. For Megan, trust, fidelity, and respect are now non-negotiable in a relationship.
She made it clear that she doesn’t want to enter another relationship where she feels like she has to minimize who she is or take a backseat to her partner.
“I cannot be minimized,” Megan said, explaining that she wants an equal partnership where both people can maintain their own identities and careers.
More Details Behind Meg and Klay Thompson’s Breakup
Megan and Thompson began dating in 2025 and made their relationship public with a red carpet appearance that summer.

They split in April 2026, with Megan accusing Thompson of being unfaithful.
At the time, she said trust, fidelity, and respect had been compromised. Now, Megan says she’s focused on finding herself again and is embracing being on her own.
“Being by yourself is okay,” she said. “Like, I ain’t smiled so much in so long.”
For Megan, it sounds like the biggest takeaway from the relationship wasn’t simply the breakup—it was realizing that she doesn’t want to lose herself trying to make a relationship work.
